BODYPUMP™ - WHAT'S THAT?

 

Bodypump™ is the fastest way to shape up and lose body fat.

 

This toning and conditioning class with weights is or anyone who wants to add strength training to their aerobic workout. Using a step platform, a bar and a set of weights, the class's simplicity makes Bodypump™ a great starting point to develop strength and confidence.

 

Hot sounds and compelling choreography keep you going through each 45-60 minute workout.

 

SO WHAT'S A TYPICAL CLASS LIKE?

This is a buzzing group fitness class, but you'll remain at your own exercise station as each track works a different muscle group.

 

Warm-Up: Shortened versions of the main exercises using light weights to get you in the mood for the workout to come.

 

Legs, Chest and Back: These large muscles are targeted with heavier weights and used at a range of speeds to both burn calories and tone up.


Triceps, biceps and shoulders: Isolate and target specific muscles with these toning moves using light weights.

 

Lunges: The weights are optional in this leg-toning area.

 

Abdominals: Build up your core strength with sit-ups and leg raises.

 

Cool-down: A final sequence of stretches completes the workout and reduces the risk of muscle soreness or injury.

 

HOW DO I DO BODYPUMP SAFELY?

Your teacher is there to keep you on track, but try to remember:

  • Good posture is the foundation of all exercise
  • Focus on learning the right technique at the beginning
  • Work continuously at perfecting your technique
  • Don't overdo the weights - start gradually, increasing them after six weeks.
  • Perform the movements with control - smooth actions, not jerky.
  • Always keep your joints slights bent, not locked straight.
  • Keep the working muscles focused, and stabilise the others.
  • Listen to your body it will tell you if something isn't right.

Some initial muscle pain is natural, especially if it's the same on both sides of your body. Check with your teacher if you have pain down only one side or in the joints, and see your doctor if the pain continues.

  • Comfortable workout clothes

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO BODYPUMP™?

Once you've got a couple of classes under your belt we recommend a maximum of two to three classes a week. Your body needs recovery time between workouts, so have at least one rest day between classes.

 

Bodypump™ feels great, but don't overdo it. You risk injury if you increase the weights too quickly or over train. Physical activity isn't a quick fix - it should become part of your lifestyle.

 

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Once you've started Bodypump™ your nerves will soon get better at telling your muscles what to do. Your muscles adapt more slowly, but after about six weeks you should be feeling great, with growing strength and improved muscle tone.
