Time Capsule's 4 Star Award
The Time Capsule, Scotland's Waterpark, is an "excellent" attraction according to tourist bosses VisitScotland.
Having reopened in December 2010 after £6.5million improvements the Time Capsule has seen its rating increase from three to four stars, following a recent inspection.
General Manager Sammy McClung believes the Time Capsule is now the best leisure facility in the country. He said: "I'm delighted with the ratings boost. We invest a lot of time in staff training to make sure our customers have a great experience and believe our new rating reflects that."
Jim Logue, Chairman of North Lanarkshire Leisure Sports Trust, said: "This is great news, not just for everyone at the centre, but for the whole of Coatbridge as, along with Summerlee Museum of Industrial Life, it attracts many people from across Scotland."
"The Time Capsule is one of only a handful of leisure pools in Scotland to achieve four star status. We have exciting plans for further developments including the ice rink and I am optimistic that at the next inspection we will make it five stars."
Blane Dodds, Chief Executive of North Lanarkshire Leisure, added: "This announcement comes on the back of recent assessment by IQL (Institute of Qualified Lifeguards) on the Time Capsule's lifeguard training which received a pass rate of 100%, a fantastic score for Scotland's largest swimming facility."
Liz Buchanan, Regional Partnership Director at VisitScotland, added: "The Time Capsule is a fantastic attraction that appeals to people of all ages. VisitScotland is delighted to award the Time Capsule with four-star status, which is fitting recognition for its high standards."
The awards focus on the standard of welcome, hospitality and service they provide, as well as presentation and the standard of toilets, shop or cafe if they have them. The number of stars awarded to a property indicate that it is: 1 star - acceptable, 2 stars - good, 3 stars - very good, 4 stars - excellent and 5 stars - exceptional.
