The Time Capsule, North Lanarkshire Leisure Trust Limited is the brainchild of the former Monklands District Council and represented the local authority's commitment to developing tourism in the region.
The Time Capsule, North Lanarkshire Leisure Trust Limited was designed by architects from Limbrick Grayson Associates and is one of Scotland's most prestigious leisure facilities. Located within the heart of Lanarkshire the Time Capsule incorporates an Ice Rink, Tiny Tots Play Zone, Dry Sports Facilities, Lifetime Fitness Centre, together with a free form Leisure Pool and a 25m swimming pool - offering the ultimate experience.
In 2003 the Time Capsule was awarded Scottish Charitable Status and in April 2011, the Time Capsule merged with North Lanarkshire Leisure Trust Limited. As a consequence of the merger the Time Capsule, now falls under the direct control of thirteen Company Directors.
Over the past few years the Time Capsule has achieved a number of national awards including Quest for Sport and Leisure Management, Leisuresafe, National Pool Safety Award, Visit Scotland Award for "Excellence," Scottish Regional Winners 2004 of the Vision in Business for the Environment Award and the Department of Community Services Gold Star Award for "Facility of the Year 2003."
The Time Capsule has disabled access and changing facilities throughout the centre and several lift services throughout the three main floor areas. The Waterpark has a disabled hoist allowing access to Riptide River and the main leisure pool. A disabled hoist can also be found in the Swim Zone 25m swimming pool. Disabled car parking spaces are also available.
